Private condos open things up, but not unconditionally. Each building is governed by its Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST), which sets its own rules on pet size, breed and number. What's permitted in one development may not be in the next, even on the same street. Landed homes tend to offer the most genuine flexibility, particularly for larger dogs or households with multiple pets, though that freedom comes with a higher price tag and locations that sit outside the central districts.

It's also a market that keeps moving. Singapore introduced mandatory cat licensing in September 2024 - a sign that the regulatory landscape around pet ownership here isn't static.
